① komatsushima Station Park

The park’s sites include Steam Locomotive Square where a steam engine is on display and Tanuki Square featuring the world’s largest bronze statutee of a raccoon.

Approximately 192 m above sea level, the observation platform in the square at the summit is a popular place where on a clear day you can see across the sea to Wakayama Prefecture.

Here on Mt. Hatayama, where the famed knight Minamoto no Yoshitsune is said to have visited, is a 6.7 m statue of Minamoto no Yoshitsune on horseback, the tallest in Japan.

④ Yoshitsune Dream Road

The famed knight Minamoto no Yoshitsune is said to have travelled this road more than 800 years ago. This partly hilly road is 10 km in length.

This is no. 18 of the 88 sacred pilgrimage spots (power spots) in the Shikoku region.

⑥ JA Higashi Tokushima Aisai Hiroba

At this indoor market you can buy produce, mainly fresh local fruits and vegetables, directly from the producers. Also available are bread, udon, seafood, meat, and other products.

⑦ Tatsueji Temple

This is no. 19 of the 88 sacred pilgrimage spots (power spots) in the Shikoku region.

⑧ Shiokaze Park

Shiokaze Park was completed in spring 2000. It includes a marine monument, a playground patterned after an airplane, and a skateboard park.

⑨ Komatsushima Minato Matsuri

This festival is the biggest annual event in Komatsushima, with attractions that include Awa Odori dancing and a fireworks show. The fireworks show includes about 2000 fireworks of various types, created by Komatsushima’s own fireworks artisans. (The festival is held in July.)

⑩ Komatsushima Keirin

This bicycle racetrack is located near the ocean. It’s also popular for its mascot, Pon-Star.
